It was recently revealed in US government archives announcing that Tesla Cybertruck was sought by the Air Force for ammunition training and testing, and the reason why the vehicle was chosen specifically will shock you.
Last night we reported that the US Air Force was looking to buy a fleet of 33 total vehicles for its Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) ‘s standoff Precision Guided Munition (SOPGM) training and testing. Documents filed showed that two cyber trucks were requested.
While many of these cars are used for simple target exercise and are intended to be disposed of, cybertruck appears to be a bit more a challenge for the heavy artillery that will be used on it. Some documents that revealed the plans went into detail about why Cybertruck was specifically selected.

An archiving said that cyber truck is simply more capable than typical vehicles. The government believes that cybertrucks would be used by enemy forces due to their proven durability against shots:
“In the operations sticks it is likely [that] The type of vehicles used by the enemy can transition to Tesla Cyber Trucks as they have been shown not to receive the normal extent of damage expected by great influence. Testing should mirror situations in the real world. “
We have already seen this on one occasion as the Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov managed to install a tower on the back of one of the all-electric pickups last year. Kadyrov claimed musk “distant interrupted” cyber truck.

In an attempt to find comparable vehicles showing similar properties as cybertruck, the military conducted market surveys in February to do so. However, it was not successful and claimed that the pickup -design “separates it” from others:
“On February 13, 2025, market surveys were conducted to assess the competition for Tesla Cybertruck by evaluating its design, materials, influence resistance and innovative technologies. Typically, painted steel or aluminum concepts. [redacted] found no vehicles with features comparable to cybertrucks. “
It is interesting considering that there are businesses and people out there who routinely mention cybertruck as an unreliable vehicle with a lot of quality problems. Many point to the recall of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which aimed to solve body panels that are disconnected from the pickup as proof that the car is uncertain.
However, the NHTSA’s 473 Safety -Report Report claims that only 1 percent of the potentially involved population of 46,906 cybertrucks will be affected by this recall.
It is apparently strong and reliable enough for the military to use it as a measure of ammunition training.
