Tesla has launched updated versions of its flagship model S and Model X vehicles. The updates are pretty small, but they come with a $ 5,000 higher price tag.
In February, Tesla confirmed that it plans to release an update of Model S and Model X later in the year.
Over the past few weeks, easily updated Model S and Model X vehicles have been seen with minor changes, the most notable is a new front bumper camera.
Now Tesla has officially launched the updated Model S and Model X, and it is, to say the least, quite a disappointing update.
Here are the official changes that Tesla has erected:
- Frost blue paint color
- Up to 410 miles of range (Model’s long range – our longest range Tesla yet) yet)
- Even more quiet inside: Less wind + road noise and more effective active noise cancellation
- New wheel design and improved aerodynamics = more reach
- Front fascia camera for better visibility
- Dynamic ambient lighting that brings unique animations along Dash & Doors at the entrance
- An even smoother trip thanks to new bushings and suspension design
- Adaptive Road Beams
- New exterior styling for Model’s Plaid, Optimized for High -Speed Stability
- More space for 3rd row residents and loads (Model x)
The new frost blue paint is a $ 2,500 option. This is what it looks like in the online configurator:

Tesla has increased the range of the vehicle by only 5 miles on 19-inch wheels, which have been updated to a new design called Magnetite. – The picture above.
Tesla says they are more aerodynamic than the previous 19 ″ wheels, and it seems to be where Tesla got five miles more of reach.
For a $ 4,500 upgrade, you can now get the new 21 ″ Velarium wheels reduced to 380 miles, which is actually 2 miles fewer than the previous model S on 21 ″ wheels.

As for the new Model X, the new 20 ″ perihelix wheel and 22 ″ Machina Wheels get:

Tesla claims to have improved cabin noise, but it shared no measurements to compare.
The carmaker added a new front bumper camera to help detect road conditions as holes for its ADAS systems:

Tesla also brought its dynamic surrounding lighting, recently introduced in Model 3 and Model Y, to the new Model S and Model X.
You can see the light strip run around the doors and the line in this picture:

The flagship model S and Model X only catch up with the much cheaper model 3 and model y can be a bad look, but Tesla brought a new thing that was not available on the cheaper vehicles: “Unique animations along the dashboard and doors at entry.”
Tesla seems to have shared a picture of the input animation:

Tesla also mentions having added new bushings and updated its suspension design without offering more details.
Like the rest of Tesla’s lineup, Model S and Model X also get new adaptive rays.
There are a few new and update design (these would only be noticeable if you are extremely familiar with Model S and Model X, like the new matte (instead of Chrome) Front logo.

The Plaid Model S, the top performance version of the vehicle, gets a few more updates with a new posterior difference and easily updated front end, but it is not important.
Tesla says the changes result in improvements in “high -speed stability”:

Model X gets “more space for 3rd row residents and loads”, but Tesla shared no details.
It is likely that the biggest change is the price. Model s and the model
- Model X:
- Long Range: $ 89,990 – rose by $ 5,000
- Plaid: $ 104,990 – rose by $ 5,000
- Model S:
- Long Range: $ 84,990 – increased by $ 5,000
- Plaid: $ 99,990 – rose by $ 5,000

This is a very mild update to put it mildly. When Lars Moravy announced that Tesla would update the vehicles later in the year, he said they will show Model S and Model X -lineup “some love,” but it doesn’t look like love for me. It looks like a reflection.

Not so long ago, Tesla aimed to sell 100,000 model S/X a year. Now Tesla is not even reporting Model S/X sales anymore, and they were estimated to be under 50,000 units globally by 2024.
In the 1st quarter of 2025, Tesla reported 12,881 vehicle deliveries in the category “Other models”, which includes Model S, Model X, Cybertruck and Tesla Semi.
Tesla hardly sells Model S and Model X at a speed of 32,000 units a year.
This will not help much.
Frankly, I don’t mind the designs. I think this is still vehicles, but I expected Tesla to bring some of its latest technology introduced with cybertruck like steer-by-wire and 48-volt electronic architecture, but no.
It looks like Tesla is just trying to make money with her hardcore fans who always like to have their latest top-of-the-line models.
